18 new COVID-19 circumstances found in London, Middlesex


The number of new COVID-19 cases every day remains in the double-digit range for London and the surrounding area.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit reported 18 new cases of the virus on Sunday, a decrease from the 21 cases noted on Saturday. This is the 12th day in a row that the daily number of COVID-19 cases has hit double digits.

The COVID-related death toll remained unchanged on Sunday with no new COVID-related deaths in the past 24 hours. There are currently 178 active cases of the virus in the region.

The health department has reported a total of 13,935 cases of COVID-19 in London and Middlesex Counties since the pandemic began.

Just over 82 percent of the 887 new COVID-19 cases reported since August 13 were among people who were not yet fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated people and those who received only one dose also made up 88.2 percent of all on-site hospital admissions in the past six weeks.

On September 18, 79.4 percent of eligible residents in London-Middlesex were fully vaccinated.

The London Health Sciences Center has been caring for 11 inpatients for COVID-19 since Friday. Of these, five or fewer are listed in the intensive care unit and none are admitted to the children’s hospital. There are currently five or fewer hospital workers who have tested positive for the virus.
