What is the current situation for Greater London?

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported 20 new COVID-19 cases since Friday, including five on Saturday, seven on Sunday and eight on Monday.

No new deaths were reported. It has now been 16 days since the last COVID-related death in the health region. Seven deaths were reported in June and 226 since the pandemic began.

There were two other questionable variants, but no new feedback for the delta variant.

The MLHU had 22 recoveries as of Friday, with 55 known active cases in the region.

The London Health Sciences Center says it is caring for nine patients with COVID-related illnesses in local hospitals, two fewer than on Friday. Less than five of them are being treated in the intensive care unit.

There are fewer than five employees who recently tested positive for the virus and are isolating.

COVID-19 in the region and beyond

Southwestern Public Health has reported nine new COVID-19 cases and no deaths as of Friday. There are 13 ongoing cases at Elgin-Oxford.

No new cases have been reported by Huron Perth Public Health, although a previously reported case has been reassigned to a different health region. There have been no new deaths in the area and the number of active cases has dropped to nine.

Meanwhile, Ontario reported 114 new cases, the fewest in a single day in more than 10 months. No new deaths have been reported across the province.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Ontario is 1,610. 204 patients are treated in intensive care units, including 123 who need a ventilator to breathe.

Vaccinations continue to rise, 79 percent of adults in Ontario have at least one vaccination and over 55 percent are fully vaccinated.
