This is the moment a lorry carrying thousands of potatoes pulled into a west London garden last night and a resident said it made her “whole house shake”.

Tonnes of potatoes were left strewn outside the property in Greenford after the lorry collided with another vehicle on the A40.

A surveillance camera filmed the dump truck swerving off the main road and crashing into two parked cars.

Then it comes to a halt in a garden just a few yards from the front of a townhouse.

The accident happened around 7 p.m. yesterday on a residential street.

“If the cars weren’t there, I’d be gone. I ran out, first to the back of the house, then I came out and saw what had happened. Potatoes were everywhere – I couldn’t even see my car.

“Usually people go for a walk here, so it’s incredibly lucky that nobody got hurt. I don’t want to see another potato. I hate it. It’s lucky the bridge wasn’t hit too.’

Mr Kumar added that this £10,000 Mercedes S350 was “a write-off” after being hit by potatoes.

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed there have been no reports of serious injuries. The London Ambulance Service has been asked for comment.

A spokesman said: “Police were called around 7pm on Monday 21 March to receive reports of a collision between a lorry and a car on the A40 in Greenford. No reports of serious injuries.’

In an update this morning, the Met said all vehicles involved had been recovered.

Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

An Ealing Council cleanup has begun, with workers offering potatoes to bystanders.

Some residents joked that the spill could provide “homemade chips that will last a lifetime”.
