Welcome to the remake of Cultural Capital, the show where we put the best of London culture into ten easy, breezy minutes.
This week we’re trying to find out what it means to be happy in two new exhibitions at the Wellcome Collection, and we’re talking to Tottenham community activist Stafford Scott and his daughter Kamara who are hosting a new exhibition at the ICA about the black resistance against racism in the UK.
We’re peeking cheekily through a keyhole in the Wallace Collection for Thing of the Week, and I’m going to be reviewing Summer of Soul (… Or, if the Revolution couldn’t be televised) – an incredible musical documentary full of unseen footage of one of the most epic Music festivals of all time. BB king? Stevie Wonder? Nina Simone? The Staples sisters? Mahalia Jackson, for God’s sake? How did we not know about it?
