Health officials in London, Ontario have reported a COVID-19 outbreak at Piero’s Pizza after four employees tested positive for coronavirus.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported a first case in the pizzeria on Wharncliffe Road South on January 19th. More cases reportedly arrived on January 22nd.

According to MLHU, three of the four infected employees had worked contagiously.

After investigating the cases, the MLHU determined that the virus was likely transmitted at Piero’s Pizza, leading to the explanation of an outbreak.

According to health officials, employees said they wear masks while at work, and a plexiglass barrier is installed in the pizzeria to separate employees and customers.

Even so, some customers may be at low risk.

“Customers who visited Piero’s or had pizza delivered between January 15 and 19 should monitor symptoms of COVID-19 and look for tests if symptoms develop,” said Dr. Alex Summers, Associate Medical Officer of Health.

“We will continue to contact these people to provide the support they need and take steps to prevent further spread.”

Those in need of testing are advised to do so at either of the two COVID-19 assessment centers in London.
