Latham regains London monetary accomplice from Kirkland


A capital markets partner has returned to Latham & Watkins three years after leaving the firm to join Kirkland & Ellis.

Shawn Anderson rejoins Latham’s London office and will focus on debt capital, equity offerings and acquisition financing, with a particular focus on high yield debt.

Anderson qualified at Latham in 2010 before moving to Kirkland eight years later.

The US heavyweights have been scrambling for talent on all fronts of late as the wage war intensifies at the junior level and hiring of lateral partners between the titans continues. The news follows Lathams Promotion lap record of 44 lawyers in October of this year and the hiring of new financing partners white & case, Because Gotshal & Mangesand Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer early 2021.

In a statement, Latham said Anderson’s return would bring more depth and expertise to the firm’s European high yield practice.

Latham hires as private equity-backed deals surpass $1 trillion for first time Last month.

Ian Schuman, global chair of capital markets and public companies practices at Latham, said he thinks Anderson’s appointment would allow the company to maintain its position at the “top” of the market.
