LONDON’S FIRST ITALIAN ‘GASTRO’ BAKERY, OPENING THIS SPRING

London’s new artisanal Sicilian ‘gastro-bakery’, Soffice, opens this spring in the heart of Putney, just in time for the famous Boat Race – one of the most iconic events in the sporting world. From die-hard foodies to pastry and pasta lovers, from rowing fans to those obsessed with Italian cuisine, discover a new take on Sicilian cuisine with Soffice.

Opened in April 2022, Soffice is the capital’s first Italian restaurant, pioneering a new culinary approach of “gastro-bakery” – the gastronomic art of using its fresh produce, available through its bakery/deli, to create its bespoke dishes to use for guests dining in the restaurant. To celebrate its opening, Soffice is giving away 150 free bowls of fresh pasta* to give foodies a taste of unique Sicilian flavors.

Soffice offers a carefully curated all-day menu of authentic Sicilian dishes, including a selection of antipasti, charcuterie, fresh pasta, pizzas, pan brioche filled with fresh ingredients, sweet pastries and desserts. Options are also available for vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free diets. The bakery also serves specialty roast coffees, cocktails, craft beers, and wines from Sicily and various regions of Italy.

HOUSE SPECIALTIES

Antipasti – Carpaccio di Tonno, thinly sliced ​​tuna marinated with fresh herbs in lemon and extra virgin olive oil

Pasta Fresca – Citrus pesto and gamberetti, lemon and orange, toasted almonds, EVOO, caper pecorino and marinated shrimp

Tavola Calda – Arancina, fried stuffed saffron rice with Sicilian ragù, burro and ham and spinach and besciamella

Desserts – Pistachio Tiramisu, the perfect Italian dessert with a Sicilian twist: creamy pistachio filling, mascarpone cream and Italian sponge

Based in Putney, Soffice will offer a unique Sicilian-style dining experience with a modern and contemporary twist, promising to use only the finest ingredients from local producers and suppliers in Sicily (and other regions of Italy). From classic recipes to new-age kitchen adventures, each dish reflects the passion for quality cuisine while paying homage to the founder’s Sicilian roots.

Soffice is the brainchild of Giuseppe Tuttoilmondo, a passionate restaurateur with over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, including key positions at Norma London, D&D London and Zelman Meats. Giuseppe dreamed up the concept of Sofficé in mid-2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic was still having a major impact on the UK hospitality industry. After years of dedication and experience serving food and drink around the world, Giuseppe has mastered the craft of artisanal Italian cuisine and his aim is to offer Londoners a unique dining experience that embraces a passionate cuisine inspired by Sicily.

The Soffice is open for dining on Saturday 2nd April and is located at 236 Upper Richmond Road, SW15 6TG. The opening times are Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
