With the UK hopefully allowing groups to meet outside for food and drink from the 12th of April, it has many of us searching for the top outdoor spots to catch up with those not in our bubble safely. This is what we’ve put together a few of London’s top outdoor terraces in bars and restaurants so you can catch up with up to six of your nearest and dearest in a stylish spot without breaking the rules. These are some of the best places to be seen in the city…
Skylight London at Tobacco Docks
Skylight is reopening on Monday April 12 for a special week long opening celebration!
London’s biggest Covid Secure outdoor bar, they are offering socially distanced table service for groups of 6 from 12 April to 21 May (Thursday to Sunday from 18th April). Situated right by the river, you have great views of London and can enjoy your new-found freedom in a buzzing atmosphere with delicious food and drink on offer.
Aranella Chapel Bar Terrace
The Chapel Bar is a bar and private hire venue located near the historic Chapel Market in Islington and it has a beautiful terrace, Aranella. Sit outside and sip on glasses of wine as well as range of delicious food offerings from their menu. It is well located and perfect to while away the hours as the weather turns warmer.
Mama Shelter London
First in our list of London’s top outdoor terraces is Mama Shelter London. Set in the heart of East London, Mama Shelter London’s Garden Bar offers the perfect
outdoor setting for guests who are practicing social distancing. This open roof and
terrace-style space is ideal for sipping on tempting cocktails and dining on Mama’s
refreshed menu which includes a selection of kebabs, made with love, for guests to sink
their teeth into.
Mo Diner’s Mediterranean take on a classic 1930’s diner is complete with a candy coloured
outdoor terrace. Guests are able to dine alfresco style in this bold outdoor spot with an
all-day menu by Michelin-starred chef Eric Chavot, offering Mediterranean twists on classics. While sister restaurant, Momo, is currently closed, guests are welcome to dine on the terrace complete with shishas and furnishings inspired by Morrocan Souks with dishes served from Mo Diner.
The Mandrake Cabanas
As far as London’s top outdoor terraces go, this is a beautiful choice. The private oasis Cabanas, tucked away across the hotel, offers both privacy for guests, as well as being part of the action with direct access to the hotel’s outdoor Jurema terrace. The Cabanas transport guests from reality to a mini tropical paradise.
Each of the ten Cabanas are available for reservation for both day and night and a table service menu is available with South American inspired dishes from The Mandrake’s YOPO restaurant and cocktails from the Waeska bar. Dishes include Prawn Ceviche, tepache & nasturtium £16, Wild Sea bass Crudo, red onion & orange £15.

Angler Terrace at the South Place hotel offers a little slice of Provence in the heart of the City. The rooftop terrace is the perfect spot to get together safely outside and look over the city. J.Sheekey Atlantic Bar
J. Sheekey, the beautiful terrace attached to the renowned J.Sheekey in Covent Garden, offers a selection of fresh fish, oysters and seasonal fare that can be enjoyed at the bar inside or on the terrace – offering the perfect setting for an al fresco feast with friends and family. Both sites offer an excellent selection of wines and Champagnes by the glass or bottle.
Celebrating the dining and drinking culture of the Riviera, FOLIE has returned with a new
terrace – perfect for al fresco dining, from lunch to dinner, in the heart of central London.

The Nest at Treehouse London
The Nest is a spacious and open rooftop terrace, with spectacular, uninterrupted 360-degree skyline views and ample space, making it perfectly suited to social distancing measures. The Nest serves lunch and dinner and weekend brunch. Dishes include: A selection of Stone Baked Flatbreads Grilled mushroom, rocket & truffle pecorino (£18) and Avocado, smoked cheddar & roasted garlic (£14). Contemporary Japanese restaurant Aqua Kyoto has reopened as a peaceful retreat from the
bustling crowds on London’s Regent Street. The beautiful, heated rooftop terrace is available for dinner reservations for the first time. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Acclaimed chef Eran Tibi has created a number of fresh new dishes designed to be shared.

Londoners looking for an elegant outdoor space to enjoy lunch or dinner need look no further. Scott’s is located in Mount Street, Mayfair. Open from midday , the restaurant offers terrace dining and cocktails in Mayfair. The menu reflects its glittering heritage, serving the finest traditional fish and shellfish dishes alongside a variety of meat and seasonal game favourites in an atmosphere of urbane sophistication.
The Rooftop at The Hippodrome Casino
Spread across three spacious floors The Rooftop offers an open-air oasis in the heart of the West End. This haven is the perfect spot for socially distanced drinks and food this winter, decked with strong heaters and covered from the rain, with a side of roulette.
D&M Kings Cross
Drake & Morgan Kings Cross has teamed up with Martin Miller’s Gin to create a Strawberry Fields Terrace. Decked with bright cascading flowers, lush greenery and pretty foliage – it’s a sweet setting to sip on cocktails from the specially curated Martin Miller’s Gin Menu, like the Strawberry Fields G&T featuring Martin Miller’s Gin, topped with premium tonic and finished with cracked black pepper, a fresh strawberry and plenty of ice (£8.95).
Cinnamon Kitchen Battersea
In the newly developed Battersea Power Station, The Cinnamon Kitchen’s latest outpost has views of the Thames and outdoor tables. Wrap up and dine on comforting curries with a dangerously addictive slice of chicken tikka and cheese naan for dipping.
Head to The Refinery Bankside’s Aperol Garden which has been kitted out with an abundance of beautiful blooms, bright orange parasols and plenty of blankets. An ideal spot to enjoy a glass of the aperitif or order one of the Insta-worthy Aperol Trees, priced at £29 for four glasses.
Aquavit London, St James’s Market
Michelin-starred Aquavit London in St James’s Market offers an expansive covered terrace complete with heaters to keep you warm and cosy – the perfect spot to sit with your six and dine al fresco. Indulge in delicious Nordic-inspired cuisine and sip on a cocktail or two as you watch the world go by from one of London’s top outdoor terraces.
As far as London’s top outdoor terraces go, this is a beautiful one. The Sipping Room’s waterside Essence of Summer Terrace, created in partnership with botanical mixer brand The London Essence Co, has been dressed in beautiful blooms, green foliage and fragrant herbs to create an idyllic escape from the concrete jungle. Wander through the white wisteria and enjoy cocktails created in collaboration with taste psychologist Greg Tucker and top mixologist Pritesh Mody, to evoke a sensory experience of being somewhere exotic.
A vibrant modern European restaurant on Marylebone’s Thayer Street, XR offers seasonal dishes and large sharing plates, as well as a truly creative cocktail menu. With a spacious, florally decorated terrace, it’s a must visit this autumn for al fresco dining with your friends and loved ones.
France’s oldest tea house, Mariage Fréres, will give you a taste of winter with a selection of over 1,000 warming teas in the heart of Covent Garden’s King Street. On offer on the Parisian-inspired terrace is the luxury French brand’s signature tea blends, from classics such as Marco Polo, or their take on Earl Grey, to delicious tea-cocktails, as well as an almost too-pretty-to-eat Afternoon Tea full of tea-infused treats. Rudy’s Vegan Diner
Last but not least on our list of London’s top outdoor terraces is Rudy’s Vegan Diner. Located in the famous Camden Stables Market, Rudy’s Vegan Diner has plenty of outdoor dining for social distancing and the perfect comfort food for a cold day. Specialising in veganised versions of classic American junk food, chow down on meat-free burgers and giant seitan hot dogs or live out the NYC Deli fantasy with Rudy’s Reuben – sandwiches stacked high with ‘pastrami’ between two slices of homemade rye. Don’t skimp on dessert with melt-your-mind dairy-free freakshakes to bring all the vegans to the yard.
