Aeolian Hall, backed by sponsors McFarlan Rowlands Insurance Brokers and D&S Pianos, is offering prizes totaling $25,000.

“At this difficult time, let’s invest in our music community in every way we can, showcase their creative talent and celebrate their recent designation as a UNESCO City of Music,” said Clark Bryan, executive director and artistic director of Aeolian Hall.

“It’s also a way for our city to celebrate our talented creatives and focus on inspiration during this particularly challenging time.”

The competition is open to local composers of all musical genres, and the songs must reflect the themes of “love, beauty and home,” Bryan said.

A jury of music industry professionals will review the competition entries. The closing date for entries is March 31st, and the winners will be announced during Canadian Music Week, this year taking place from April 19th to 23rd.
