Coffered ceilings, stone floors and an on-site ballroom make the newly renovated Victoria House in Bloomsbury one of the greatest flexible workspaces in London.

The Grade I listed building, which was completed in the 1920s, was renovated by coworking firm LABS and architecture studio Hutchinson & Partners, who built on the work of Will Alsop in the early 2000s.

Ten floors are now coworking spaces, and members also have access to a gym, studio, auditorium, and meeting rooms. The architects have added libraries, corners, and phone booths to the workspaces, and private 1920s offices have also been preserved – complete with original oak floors, carved marble, and fireplaces.

In the basement is the Victoria House’s Art Deco ballroom, which can be rented as an event space. Yaara Gooner, Senior Architect and Head of Design at LABS, describes the building as “a polychrome mix of multiple layers of history and beauty”.

Those who secure a desk in the 100-year-old building step into Victoria House’s huge triple-high stone lobby, hung with bronze chandeliers and custom-made terrazzo floors newly installed by Hutchinson & Partners. You can also enjoy a coffee or an aperitif on the building’s rooftop terrace, which overlooks West London. Prices for desk space or offices in the London coworking space are available on request.
