London’s new retailer solely recommends Scorching Dinners for the supply of foods and drinks

The London food and drink delivery scene has never been more innovative and interesting. We’re picking out some of the city’s new delivery-only stores that you should know about.

Singer and cook Emily rose to fame when she reached the finale of The Voice as one half of the opera duo Belle Voci. While the concerts are interrupted, she cooks again, first publishes a small recipe book and then makes parties for the freezer and the brownies in the mailbox. As the former suggests, browse their selection of homemade dishes like lasagna, cassoulet, beef bourguignon and they will send enough to fill your freezer.

Honestly, who doesn’t want a massive filo cake? Chef Spasia Dinkovski came to London after running a sold out sandwich shop in Brooklyn. She has worked at Dalston Superstore and Rita’s Dining and now ships these amazing layered or rolled cakes inspired by her Macedonian grandmother’s kitchen.

Sake importer and restaurant consultant Elyse Li brought her skills to a new store making take-away during the lockdown. The menu, which changes weekly, features a selection of dim sum – Iberico pork and shrimp dumplings with Sichuan chili oil as an example – as well as traditional Chinese peanut candies and homemade Chinese sausages.

Scope of delivery: It’s only in Ealing for the dim sum, but nationwide for sweets and sausages.

Biochemist Bethany started Tender Caramel out of a passion for working with sugar, but with a dream of creating a space where others can learn how to make candy and improve their wellbeing. It delivers a range of wrapped caramels (flavors like sea salt, gingerbread, and peanut butter), candies, caramel bars, and jars of salted caramel. Better still, for every purchase, they donate £ 1 to charities and mental health awareness projects.

With the plan to open a tooting café, this new delivery company is all about groceries from northern Sri Lanka and is named after founder Krish’s mother. The curry and rice come in reusable glasses and there is always a great vegan or vegetarian option. The menu changes every two weeks and all dishes are cooked to order to minimize waste.

Digital product designer Henrietta started baking at the beginning of the first lockdown. After spending some time testing how to make the perfect duct, she started her delivery business. It’s the ultimate in simplicity – she sells Caneles, and that’s it.

Venezuelan chef Patxi Andres has a dream in London with jobs at Black Ax Mangal, Bao, Koya and the late-lamented Bad Sports. With plans for a taco pop-up that was destroyed by lockdown, he sets out to make “the tastiest, dirtiest burritos in town.” It’s a crazy mix of influences – think katsu curry tofu or deep fried Mars bars burritos. With plans for a Dalston residence, when things can be reopened, it’s well worth keeping an eye on.

Sushma Rani Makol is a Hounslow legend known to the locals for their amazing samosas for over 50 years. Now her family has taken over her coat and delivered super samosas to the doorstep of Londoners. There are currently five options – including a chili paneer, a cheeseburger, and an apple pie dessert version.

Chef Saransh Goila’s goila butter chicken is massive in India. After a sold out residence in the carousel, he now delivers the dish that made him famous. The food menu is simple with free-range Yorkshire chicken: buttered chicken, dal makhani, jeera rice, sourdough naan, pickled shallots, and coriander chutney.

Gizzi Erskine and Professor Green’s “‘Giz & Green’s Monday Night Fakeaway” was a product of the first lockdown that produced a popup and is now a full-fledged delivery store. Think stuffed crust pizzas and a proper salad bar experience.

Chef April Lily is a National Young Chef of the Year finalist. She was selected by OFM as their best young cook in 2014 and has worked everywhere from The Clove Club to Blue Hill Farm and The Ledbury. She sends out homemade dishes every week. Choose from a variety of savory and sweet options. They have homemade chicken liver parfait with brioche, fresh foccacia, kouign amanns, biscuit roll batter and she even makes her own butter cakes with milk from The Estate Dairy.

This Walthamstow-based gourmet delivery service features Chef Andy Bowler’s three-course menu of contemporary British dishes based on French classic for £ 45 per person. Bowler trained with Michel Roux Jr. and Simon Rogan (both with Roganic and Fera with Claridge) and most recently with Gordon Ramsays Petrus in Knightsbridge. They also have a wine pairing via forest wines.

New wine delivery platform The Sorting Table is a collaboration between London-based wine importer Indigo Wines, winemaker and sommelier Raj Parr (star of the Netflix wine fair ‘Somm’) and British wine author Jamie Goode. They are all about accessible fine wines, and most of what they sell was once only sold in the best restaurants in town.

But now her side job is quickly becoming her main job as her homemade baked goods are driven across London. The menu changes weekly and we still dream of the amazing chewy coconut macaroons and chocolate chip cookies we tried.

Chef Ed Jennings returned to London after three years in Amsterdam, working on the farm just before Lockdown 1.0 to occupy De Kas restaurant. So he rolled up his sleeves and started making biryanis, inspired by the months he had spent in India. He makes all of his own chutneys and curries from scratch using amazing Cornish Cull Yaw Mutton and even melts his fat to use in place of oil to coat the rice in flavor.

Tel Aviv-born Keff founder Yoram Janowski met Keff’s chef Halil on a hummus tour through Jerusalem. Now back in London, the duo deliver a range of Middle Eastern vegetarian dips and salads, many of which are vegan. We tried a selection including their masabacha and labneh and were blown away by the quality.

Chef Will Lewis has worked in some of London’s top restaurants, including Brat, St. John Bread and Wine and Rochelle Canteen. His cakes range from traditional to riffs on classics, like a spiced chicken and potato cake with cumin, fennel, and fenugreek. He also sells a nice line in desserts, including treacle and bakewell pies.
