A debt financing partner has brought 20 years of experience to the UK finance team at Macfarlanes.
Malcolm Hitching joined Macfarlanes‘ London office after three years as a partner Ropes & Greyand a previous 13-year stint at Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF).
During his time at HSF, Hitching advised high-profile clients such as Virgo group and affiliated companies regarding their financing needs and as an advisor to the internet services company Yell Group (now Hi) on a $7.4 billion debt restructuring.
Previously, Hitching was also there for seven years Norton Rose Fulbright.
Hitching specializes in alternative lending, leveraged finance, specialty finance and private equity and “has an excellent track record in areas of strategic importance,” said the senior partner Sebastian Prichard Jonesin an opinion.
He added that “his work with credit and other alternative credit funds is particularly relevant as we have been involved with these industries from the beginning and to this day they remain a core part of our practice across the business.”
In addition, the company is increasing its range of loans and secured financing in London, Cahill Gordon & Reindel hired the leader Allen & Overy‘s leveraged finance division and one of its capital markets partners, last month. In May, Owen Ross brought 12 years of experience CMS‘ Finance team, also in London.
