A MasterChef winner will open his debut restaurant in London this fall following a “successful” crowdfunding campaign.

Sven Hanson Britt, winner of MasterChef the Professionals: The Rematch 2019, opens his first restaurant Oxeye in the Embassy Gardens of Nine Elms in October.

Sven launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2019 to fund the restaurant’s opening, which raised more than £ 36,000.

In addition to a fine-dining restaurant, there will be a bar, a shop, a private dining room and a gallery on site. Oxeye will have six sessions a week Thursday through Saturday, while the adjoining Rex Bar serves over 300 British wines Thursday through Sunday. The Oxeye’s private function room, art gallery and outdoor terrace will be located on top of the building.

Sven said, “Oxeye has been the best part of 10 years in development: from formulating our ideas on the Park Farm area in Derbyshire to finding the perfect location in Embassy Gardens.”

He continued, “The restaurant has its own small business in Derbyshire where we grow fruit, vegetables and hedge crops to complement the products of a number of small growers and producers across the country. These artisans, farmers and real heroes of British food inspire us and drive us every day to create more and more delicious food. “
