Sidley London restructuring companion joins Alston & Chicken

Alston & Bird has continued its foray into the London recruitment market by adding a Sidley Austin restructuring partner to its ranks.

Restructuring partner Phillip Taylor left the company after two decades to join Alston & Bird’s London base, according to one person aware of the situation.

This is Alston & Bird’s third partner rental for its young London base this year after starting in 2019.

Taylor’s departure from Sidley follows the departure of private equity co-head and buyout specialist Erik Dahl and private equity partner Christian Iwasko, who left after four years in June and later joined Goodwin Procter in September.

Taylor joined Sidley in 1999, according to LinkedIn, and was promoted to the partnership in 2011.

In August, Alston & Bird hired Norton Rose Fulbright’s dispute resolution partner, Paul Morris, and Reed Smith’s financial partner, James Fisher, in March.

The office opened in September 2019 with the hiring of Andrew Petersen, Chief Financial Officer of K&L Gates London, and a team of six other lawyers.

Sidley Austin declined to comment. Alston & Bird did not respond to requests for comment.
