Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirsons Pippin, a six-person open air production, began on September 8th at the Garden Theater in London at The Eagle. Originally planned to run until September 20th, the performances will now run until October 11th.

Directed by Steven Dexter, Ryan Anderson (Bat Out of Hell) stars as Pippin, Tsemaye Bob-Egbe (Tina: Das Tina Turner-Musical) stars, Tanisha-Mae Brown stars Catherine and Joanne Clifton stars Strictly Come Dancing Fastrada and Bertha, Harry Francis (Cats) as Lewis and Theo and Dan Krikler (Jersey Boys) as Charles.

Dexter’s production is inspired by the late 1960s – “The Summer of Love” – when Schwartz began writing an earlier version of the show as a student. “My take on the show, which I previously staged twice in drama schools, is told by a group of hippie travelers,” he explains. “A big thank you to Stephen Schwartz and David Hirson (son of author Roger O. Hirson) for taking this approach and granting us the rights to a new version of Pippin with a cast of six.”
