On Wednesday, local poets Jose B. Gonzalez and Josh Brown will discuss art and activism through the prisms of their own work and experiences in the latest “Artist to Artist” talk presented by the New London Arts Council. The free, virtual event will take place at 5 p.m.
Gonzalez, who immigrated to the United States from El Salvador as a young man, is the author of two collections, When Love Was Reels and Toys Made of Rock, is a Fulbright Fellow and Government Professor at the United States Coast Guard Academy. Brown, a native of Connecticut, was recently named a second New London Poet Laureate. A seasoned rapper / poet / spoken word artist, he is an engineering teacher and robotics coach at New London High School and has written and published poetry with Magik Press Publications. Brown also works as a talent coordinator for Cultured AF, the New London arts / social platform.
