The London Food Bank is launching a virtual food drive amid COVID-19

LONDON, ONT. – The London Food Bank kicked off its 33rd annual Spring Food Drive with a little twist due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The focus this year is on an online cash donation rather than handing out bags at local grocery stores.

“There’s never been anything like it, and the food bank is all about community coming together, and now we’re trying to get them to do that while they’re apart,” says Glen Pearson, Co -Managing Director of the London Food Bank.

“So it’s a unique challenge that not only we face, but others as well.”

Londoners can still drop off nonperishable groceries at all 14 fire stations and some participating grocery stores.

More than 56,000 pounds of food was collected last year.

The campaign ends on Easter Monday.
