A London theater company is offering two new virtual plays.

AlvegoRoot Theater presents a new play online from Friday to September 27th, The Bicycle Play, written by Dan Ebbs, Kydra Ryan and Adam Corrigan Holowitz, founders and artistic directors of the theater group.
The company will also be streaming a recording of Holowitz’s Pirates of Long Point.
Both shows were created to be filmed and are staged by Holowitz with a cast of Ebbs, Ryan, Casey Cornell, Elizabeth Durand and Bronwyn Wilson.
The Bicycle Play “explores London’s defining relationship with bicycles,” and tells stories “of Londoners who have shaped their lives and our city by bicycle, including Jane Bigelow, George Wenige, Greg Curnoe and Jessie Robins,” said Holowitz.

Pirates of Long Point is a comedy based on true stories of piracy on the shores of Lake Erie, but in the style of a 19th century melodrama. When an American naval admiral arrives, it takes a “whipping girl” to drive Long Point before annexation by the USA to save
“It was very exciting to be able to come back to the rehearsal room to create these two pieces,” said Holowitz.
“These are local stories that I think are important right now. The bicycle game tells stories of many influential, colorful and complex people in the history of our city who had one thing in common: their love for bicycles. “
Holowitz said Pirates of Long Point is “a joyous celebration of theater based on true stories from the area’s past that brings laughter, liberation and joy – something we all need now.”

AlvegoRoot’s 2021 film season is presented in partnership with Fanshawe Pioneer Village and supported by the London Arts Council through the city’s Community Arts Investment Program.
